The Business Requirement
With the advancement in technology, our customer planned to migrate their existing UNIX platform and DataStage v8.7 Interfaces to Linux platform and latest IBM - DataStage v11.5
Our Solution and Support
Our team worked closely with the customer's EPD (Enterprise Platform Delivery) team to migrate their Datastage v8.7 interfaces to Datastage v11.5 through a phase-wise migration approach. Our customer personnel were responsible for identifying the work sets for each phase while we took the ownership of each
phase and delivered the respective documentation, source code and deployment. Our team also provided a first run support after successful production migration.
- Collected the Datastage v8.7 projects and interface job details from the client's EPD team and divided the interfaces into 4 waves based on priority of SOX audit
- Provided a detailed phase-wise project plan
- Built Linux platform for Datastage v11.5 which involved software, patch installations and complete environment setup
- Created the project's folder structure to replicate Datastage v8.7 structure in new Datastage v11.5
- Exported the DataStage v8.7 production scripts and imported them into DataStage v11.5 development environment
- In DataStage v11.5 development phase, our team worked with the customer's business team for some sample files in database for testing and made the code bug free and adhere to coding/naming standards as specified by the customer
- Based on master sequence and job flow, team identified the Tidal job, Secure Transfer (ST) source and target details to create a new instance for new DataStage v11.5 job trigger
- Modified the shell scripts to Linux compatibility so that the scripts are executed without errors
- After migrating the Development code to model environment with customer management process, we received the source sample data for the UAT and requested the Tidal team to execute the Tidal job and monitor the end-to-end flow
- Once model load is successful, we requested the Business/Application owner to validate the processed data and requested for UAT sign-off, then created the production migration documents and followed the customer production change management process
- Provided a go-live plan for each interface which includes step-by-step guide to deploy the source code in production environment
- Delivered all the necessary technical design document/source code in DataStage v11.5 across each phase
